Hopes, Strategies and Pastoral Applications for Ministries

Conference Workshops
- Tuesday, August 5 at 11:20 a.m.

  1. Performing Love
    Presenter: Cecilia Gonzalez-Andrieu
This workshop will deepen and unpack the work of wakefulness begun in the Monday plenary session through writing and performance.

  2. Celebrate Strengths, Appreciate Differences:
    HBDI and the Pastoral Team

    Presenter: Michael Galligan-Stierle
Through a simple self-scoring methodology, you will gain insight to your preferred way of thinking, planning, and acting…and that of your co-workers. The Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) methodology will assist you and staff members to plan more efficiently and communicate / listen more effectively. Most importantly, you will learn how you can maximize your proclaiming, preaching, and teaching the good news given your HBDI profile.

  3. Honing Skills for Effective Group Leadership
    Presenter: Loughlan Sofield
Many ministers have been well-formed to work with individuals. Today the emphasis in church is on the concept of communio. Effective leaders must learn the dynamics and skills for working with groups and communities.

  4. Bridging the Gap To “Real” Church
Presenters: John Thorne & Kathleen Walker
This session lends itself to the great cultural awakening and sharing that can occur when parishes from the city and the suburbs collaborate in active ministry. The gifts of the diverse church are not only for the community within which we minister, but rather to be shared broadly to create a “real” experience of church.

  2. Pastoral Planning Leads to Great Outcomes!
    Presenter: Bill Huebsch
Once we know our mission and are agreed to work as a team, the next step is to develop a simple, realistic plan to go where we dream of being! This workshop will lay out in plain language the steps to follow in setting a pastoral plan – with the hope of moving from being a good parish to being a really GREAT one!

  3. Dealing with Burn-Out: Re-Igniting your Pastoral Staff
    Presenter: Loughlan Sofield
Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life and have it to the fullest.” Too many ministers are burning out. This workshop will explore the concept of burnout and the means for avoiding and overcoming it.
