Rev. Todd Lajiness earned an A.B. in Philosophy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 1990.  He completed an S.T.B. at the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1993, followed by an S.T.L. in Fundamental Theology also from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1995. 

 

Following his ordination to the priesthood in 1995, he served as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Victory in Northville Michigan and as Assistant Professor of Theology in the College of Liberal Arts at Sacred Heart Major Seminary from 1995-1997.  He was appointed Secretary to His Eminence Edmund Cardinal Szoka, President of the Pontifical Commission of Vatican City State in 1997.  While serving as Secretary to Cardinal Szoka (1997-2002), Fr. Lajiness completed a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome, (Angelicum) in 2000.  He earned a Doctorate in Philosophy also from the Angelicum in 2002.  In 2002, Fr. Lajiness returned to the Archdiocese of Detroit and was appointed Director of Undergraduate Formation at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and began teaching courses in Philosophy in the College of Liberal Arts.  His weekend assignment is at St. Mary Queen of Creation Parish, New Baltimore.  Father Lajiness was appointed by His Eminence Adam Cardinal Maida to serve as the Dean of Studies in 2003. 

 

Fr. Lajiness also serves as an appointed member of the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council; Chair of the Committee for Continuing Education and Formation; member of the Board of Trustees for the Catholic Youth Organization and the Catholic Youth Organization Priest Task Force; and Archdiocesan Chaplain to the Knights of Columbus.  His professional activities include:  serving on the Executive Committee of the Mid-West Association of Theological Schools; a member of a working group sponsored by the Wabash Center with the task of Developing a Framework of Assessment for Roman Catholic Seminaries; participation in Good Leaders, Good Shepherds a two year program of formation for priests developed and facilitated by the Catholic Leadership Institute, Exton, Pennsylvania.  Fr. Lajiness also has given a variety of talks and retreats to seminarian and parochial groups.

 

In addition to his responsibility as the Dean of Studies, he also serves the institution on the Administrative Council; Student Recruitment Council; Faculty Search and Promotion Committee; Faculty Concerns Committee; Library; Institutional Assessment Committee; Priestly Formation Team; College Seminarian Advisor Team; M.Div Degree Committee; and M.Div. Admissions.
