Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) Thesis Style Sheet

Course Divider

Paper: Standard American letter size, 8.5 inches by 11 inches, plain white, 20 lb bond (typical photocopy machine paper)

Text: Portrait orientation, printing on obverse of leaf only, left-hand justification. Do not bind leaves in any way.

Font: Student’s choice of 12 point Times New Roman or 11.5 point Arial plain.

Margins: 1 inch all around, except left hand margin is 1.5 inches.

Line spacing: Double space body text, space-and-half table of contents, footnotes, bibliography, indented extended quotations, and appendices (if any).

Cover & Signature pages: See templates. Do not attach a separate or additional cover(s).

Page numbering: Arabic numbers, lower right-hand corner, first page of body text starts page one. Optional Roman numbering for prior materials; cover page and attestation sheet are never numbered.

Length: 75-100 pages. The total acceptable length of a thesis includes one non-numbered cover page and a table of contents; Bibliography and any appendices should be included in the total page length.

Other points:

Use footnotes, not endnotes.

List in the Bibliography all, but only, those works actually cited in the thesis.
