Suggestions for the Person Identifying the Candidate

  1. Mission Possible LogoEncourage the person/candidate to select a mentor/ministerial guide from the parish, from the staff with the assistance of you, a staff person, the Archdiocese or contact the Office for Pastoral Ministries for mentor suggestions.

  2. Urge the person to visit this website to view the video online, perhaps spend some time with the streaming videos of interviews/profiles of ministers and the other resources provided.

  3. Review with them areas of ministerial interest.  Suggest that they raise and record questions about ministry and the path to service.

  4. Consider with the person possible places for study and formation.

  5. Help the candidate generate a list of their talents and skills.

  6. Provide them with the discernment inventory.

  7. Accompany the candidate to a Mission: Possible event or gathering.

  8. Encourage them to become involved in ministry at the parish or in another setting.

  9. Invite the person to participate in parish, vicariate or diocesan formation/information gatherings or opportunities

  10. Accompany the candidate to a place of higher learning after proper contacts are made.

  11. Offer to pray with and for the person and encourage them to pray for direction.

  12. Suggest a class or series of topics that might whet the appetite

  13. If the person is a young adult encourage them to attend the Mission: Possible retreat

  14. Suggest to the person that contact be made with a minister serving in the area of interest and ask to accompany them through a day of ministry.
