Collections

Detroit's ethnic, urban, and social history is represented in the numerous collections housed in the Archdiocesan Archives.

Historical materials range from the papers if the diocesan bishops dating back to the 18th-century pioneer priest, Rev. Gabriel Richard to manuscripts and publications pertaining to the "Radio Priest" of the 1930s, Rev. Charles E. Coughlin.

Other collections record the social welfare and community activism of Catholic organizations such as the League of Catholic Women and the National Catholic Welfare Conference, as well as the administrative records of Catholic parishes in Detroit and its suburbs.
