January Prayer Theme
"Rejoicing in the Gift of the Ministerial Priesthood"

As our Church of Detroit welcomes the special monstrance blessed by Pope John Paul II for Eucharistic Adoration and Holy Hours on behalf of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, we dedicate this month of January to reflection on the gift and blessing of priestly life and ministry in the Church throughout the world.  In a particular way, we remember all the priests who have served here over the decades and we pray for those now in formation and those who, by the grace of God, will also respond to the Lord's call.
Heavenly Father, you call weak but sincere men to share in the consecration and mission of Christ your Son, the Eternal High Priest.  Sustain those who now serve in the name of your Son; keep them faithful to their work of proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the Mass and the Sacraments, and shepherding the Church in the ways of unity and peace.  Continue to inspire many young men to hear and respond wholeheartedly to the gift and call we share in that same ministry.  We ask all this through Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.  Amen.
