Six Ordained to the Priesthood

Cardinal Adam Maida, Archbishop of Detroit, ordained six men to the Catholic priesthood on Saturday, May 18, 2002, in St. Hugo of the Hills Church, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Five of the men were ordained for the Archdiocese of Detroit and one for the Diocese of Cameroon in west central Africa.

Approximately 700 priests currently serve the 1.4 million Catholics living in the six counties of the Archdiocese of Detroit. A survey conducted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Vocations Committee indicates that, nationwide, more that 400 men will be ordained to the Catholic priesthood this year. In the last five years, the Archdiocese of Detroit has been averaging five ordinations per year.
